Fall is almost here and fall fashion trends are in. And guess what’s making a comeback? Many many styles from the 80s and 90s, such as high waist jeans, ruched clothing, neon colors and animal print. I’ve selected my 10 favorite trends to wear this season. But let’s be honest, while the catwalk looks are gorgeous, they aren’t meant for everyday wear, so I’ve taken that into account as I put together my outfits for this upcoming season. I took everything with a grain of salt as I styled these trends into functional everyday outfits for us “regular” women. So pull out your old clothes out of the attic (if you still have them) and make some room in your closet for these new styles. I linked affordable and super cute options under each trend.
1. Mom Jeans
The famous Mom jeans from the 80s made a comeback! These high waisted and loose fit jeans are back in style. I found such a cute pair at target for only $22. These light-wash jeans hit at the ankles, and add an extra something with the distressed detailing and a frayed hem. Add a simple tee or blouse, heels and a statement necklace and you’re done!
2.Animal Print
Say hello to animal print and this year it’s not just the leopard/cheetah print. Zebra, tiger and colorful animal prints are in. Shirts, dresses, shoes and handbags with these designs are hot right now.
Leopard Print Cardigan $22.99
Leopard Print Tee$26
If you are not into cheetah print:
Zebra Tie Front Top $55
Snakeskin Dress
3. Rouched Dresses and Skirts
This may be one of my favorite falls trends. The rouched detail adds a fun texture to simple dresses/skirts and can be easily dressed up or down. In addition, this style looks great on any body type. It hugs the body nicely and is pretty flattering.
Rouched Dress in Grey – on sale $33.60
Ruched Ribbed Body-Con Dress – on sale $29.40
4. Denim shirts/jackets and skirts
Give me all the denim, now! I’m loving this trend. Denim shirts add such a cool feel to any outfit. Whether wrapped around the waste, as a jacket or paired with a statement necklace, denim shirts are an essential part of fall wardrobe.
Denim Shirt $19.99
Hudson White Jeans $185
5. Plaid, Plaid, Plaid
Plaid has taken over the runways this year. Versace, Michael Kors and Dior all showcased this trend. Runways were dominated by pink, yellow, and orange check.
Twist Front Plaid Shirtdress – on sale $34.49
Maternity Flannel Plaid Maternity Shirt Dress – on sale $34.07
Irregular Hem Plaid Dress $16.99
6. Neon colors and Floral Prints
Neon colors and floral prints were all over the runway this season, especially hot pink, bright yellow and bright red. Ok this one didn’t get me quite excited at first until I dug in my closet and put together some outfits. It actually became pretty fun and now I’m excited to add some pop of color to my wardrobe this fall.
Yellow Plaid Shirt on sale $29.40
Tiffany Asymmetrical Blouse $32.98
7. Camouflage
The camo look is back! Whether adding a camo jacket to an all white outfit, or wearing a tunic with camo pants/leggings, you can’t go wrong by adding this print to your wardrobe this fall. These high-rise camo leggings from Target are super comfortable, I could wear them every day.
White Tie Front Shirt $18.99
Camo Print High Rise Legginds $14
8. Jumpsuits/Overalls/Rompers
The runway was filled with jumpsuits this season. Try a fitted jumpsuit or a loose fitting one to see what compliments your body type. I love one pieces because they make it so easy to style and are quick to put on. I just found this super cute cotton jumpsuit that’s nursing friendly. And an additional bonus is the color. Rust is a very popular color this fall. Score!
9. Cape Sleeves
I always loved cape sleeves and I’m so excited that this trend is back. Feeling like super-mama right now in this cute blue cape sleeve top paired with a cute little beige skirt. It’s perfect for a night out.
Cape Sleeve Top $15
Cape Sleeve Blazer $28
10. Brown is the new black
Head-to-toe black or as fashion people call it “monochromatic dressing” has been very popular last year. However, the new trend is a new color coordination: browns. So pull out your khaki, beige and brown clothes and start styling in this new trendy shade.
Tan Long Cardigan $29.99
Open Cardigan $27.99
Brown Ruched Dress $59
BP Cardigan $49
